How to begin the Journey on Weightloss

Every journey begins with a single step. A single step can only be done thru determination. Determination require goals to be realistically manifested.

There are many that wants to shed some weights. But not all of them have the will power to turn that want to be a reality.  Who would not want a fit and healthy body? But not all succeed in achieving it.
It’s just so ironic especially nowadays, in a modern world with advance technology, resources on fitness and Weightloss programs are available across the net.
So where do most fail in achieving a fit body? I think it’s on lacking the will and focus to achieve the goal. On my personal weight loss journey, I have realized that it is not an overnight journey as exaggeratedly advertised by slimming products. It requires discipline and a well condition mindset to keep going.
But how are you going to prepare yourself on a wellness journey? So here’s my personal list.
1. Know your goal.
On this part, I have set my goal weight to make my goals realistic. Having the target number in mind make the goal attainable.
Personally, I have tried different means of losing weight and attain a fluctuating result. I think one of my reason there is that I don’t have a specific target. In my mind, my only goal is to be slim. So whenever someone notice some changes on me, I got swayed so easily. I’ll be too overwhelmed that I will just return on my usual habit. The result is, I lose weight temporarily but later will gain more than what I lose. This is so frustrating so I kept in mind that I have to make a change.
This is when I really did set my target weight. I also did specify what my reason in losing weight. (And I suggest that you don’t do this for others but for yourself).
2. Condition yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Physically – BMI, BMR, weight, height, any underlying physical condition (for instance, type B diabetes) should be identified to know what fitness program suits you. Some things to consider here also is what are the foods that you mostly dislike, or which food do you have allergies. This is in preparation of suitable meal plans for you.
Mentally – the secret to a sustainable workout plan is having a determined mind. Having a prepared mindset makes the workout routine doable however intense it may. As the saying goes “It’s all in the mind.” A happy mind has more energy that is needed in an intense workout routine.
Emotionally – having a strong emotion will keep you in track. Remember the journey to fitness is not always easy. There would times that you will hit plateau and if you are emotionally weak, you may just give up easily wasting all your efforts. So it is really important to be emotionally prepared.
3. Choose a fitness/work out program to begin with.
It is good to have a workout routine to follow. There are lots of available workout videos from fitness vlogger online. Or you may customize if you want. For beginners, I suggest to start on aerobics. This will make you really sweat to kickstart your metabolism. I personally did zumba on the beginning of my journey.
4. Choose the right meal plan for you.
There are lots of diets that you may follow. For instance, keto, arkins, LFHC, etc. I strongly suggest that you choose a meal plan that will not make you feel that you are on a diet. If you want a stable result, choose to have a change in lifestyle than to be on a diet. (I will discuss this further on my future blogs).

You may have other things to prepare to take the very first step in a fitness journey. But the most important thing is YOU take the step. Are you willing to take the challenge of changing yourself to be a better you?
